We asked Molly, Design Consultant at our Spectra Showroom to share her top finish recommendations for pet-friendly homes, along with a few things to consider when making your selections.

Tiles: one of the best choices for pets

Quality porcelain and ceramic tiles resist claw marks. They're waterproof, so spills and accidents stay on the surface, and a matte finish gives paws a little more grip.

Tiles don't absorb pet smells either, so accidents, muddy paws, and shed fur can simply be swept, vacuumed or mopped away.

Laminate: tough on scratches

Laminate is a great option too. It stands up to scratches, it's anti-static, and it's made to resist fading.

Hybrid: quiet, waterproof and hard-wearing

Hybrid flooring is hard-wearing, waterproof, and stain-resistant. Its vinyl surface also softens sound, making it a practical choice for busy homes with pets.

And because it's waterproof, spills from water bowls are easy to wipe, making everyday messes that little bit easier to manage.

Love carpet? Choose a plush or cut twist pile

If carpet is a must, go for a plush or cut twist pile. No loops for claws to catch and pull, so it's comfortable for you and your pets, and less likely to show wear.

Pet mesh for your alfresco and external doors
