How to apply for the First Home Owner Grant

Applying for the FHOG isn’t a difficult process, but it is a detailed one. You can apply for it directly through the Victorian State Revenue Office or with our specialist consultants. Here’s how the application process works.

Find out if you are eligible by completing a quick questionnaire

Step 1: Check eligibility

The Victorian SRO has provided a simple eligibility test for the FHOG. There, you’ll be able to test yourself against up-to-date criteria. If you’re ineligible for the grant, you may find that you are eligible for one of several concessions available to assist homebuyers.

Step 2: Gather your evidence

If you are eligible for the FHOG, you will need to provide several identification documents. These can include Australian passports, citizenship and birth certificates, driver’s licences, and Medicare cards.

You must also provide evidence to support your relationship status, such as a marriage or divorce certificate, or statutory declaration of separation.

If you are an Australian Defense Force (ADF) veteran, you should provide evidence for additional grant considerations.
