What is a Knockdown Rebuild?

A Knockdown Rebuild (aka KDR) involves demolishing your existing home and building a brand-new, energy-efficient home in its place. Alternatively, you might find a house in a neighbourhood you love and decide to replace it with your perfect home.

What are the benefits?

There are plenty of good reasons to consider a knockdown rebuild, including:

Stay where you love: Perhaps you’re happy where you’re living. The kids are settled in local schools and you have friends on the street, but your existing house is too small, dated and racks up huge power bills – and renovating just isn’t worth it. Plus, you don’t like the idea of nasty (read: costly) surprises.

Design your dream home: With a Knockdown Rebuild, you get the chance to design the perfect home tailored to you and your family – think luxe finishes, spacious rooms, seamless indoor-outdoor connection, and incredible energy efficiency.

Save money: In many cases, knocking down and starting over can be cheaper per square metre than renovating.

Plus, by staying in the same location, you won’t have any stamp duty costs or buying/selling fees.

Boost your home’s value: You get to create a modern, energy-efficient home packed with all the lifestyle features today’s buyers love.

Less hassle: If you decide to stay put and rebuild, you don’t have to go through the trouble (or cost) of selling and buying a new home.

As most of the work with a Knockdown Rebuild is done before you even move out of your home, including permits and selections, you simply move out, then move back in.
