Choose gentle, earthy colours

Set the scene for elegant, laid-back living with muted tones drawn from nature, such as warm white, soft greys and ecru, across your walls, floors, and furnishings. Adding in a few moments of warmer colour, such as rust, terracotta, and olive, in scatter cushions and décor pieces, will help ground the gentle scheme. 

Opt for natural textures & materials

Mix a variety of different natural materials to provide interest and reinforce the earth-drawn nature of this style. Think layer upon layer of oak across your floors and joinery, woven rattan furniture, boucle armchairs, fine linen curtains and chunky woollen throws. Add to the high-end feel by introducing touches of luxurious marble and terrazzo in side and coffee tables.

Introduce characterful touches

Adding V-groove panelling to your walls and ceilings brings instant depth and architectural interest to your Minerals-themed room. Install it on the ceiling of your open-plan living area to subtly zone the space; use it to warm up the walls of your front hallway, or line the wall behind your bed in your master suite to create a beautiful focal point.

Add further character by dotting shelves and tabletops with a medley of matt-finish ceramics in simple, organic shapes. On the walls, hang abstract artworks inspired by the many wonders of nature, such as wave-like forms and botanicals in close-up.

Keep patterns subtle

Patterns are low-key but highly impactful in the Minerals style. Consider stunning chevron-patterned oak flooring in the hallway and open-plan living/dining/kitchen area. Ensure there are plenty of spots to pop a drink or a bowl of popcorn – think timber stump side tables and terrazzo and marble-topped coffee tables. Finish off the welcoming style by draping a couple of soft cashmere or chunky woollen throws over the arms of your sofas and armchairs that guests can wrap around themselves on chilly evenings.

Elevate the look with hints of gold

Add in a few touches of brushed gold – think tapware, joinery handles, light fixtures, and slender picture frames – to add a dash of luxury to this relaxed and inviting style.
