Keep your bathrooms beautiful
Keep your bathrooms beautiful
Do you find yourself walking into your new Carlisle bathroom and just taking a moment to take it all in? This really is your beautiful bathroom not just a photo in the brochure. And whilst it may look like it is straight out of a luxurious hotel, the reality is there isn’t a maid coming in each morning to keep it looking shiny and new.
Our number five most favourite bathroom is the Atlantique on display at Berwick Waters, Clyde North. The clever use of timber finishes flows from the luxurious hotel-style master bedroom through to the elegant ensuite that is truly fit for a king and queen!
So, how can you keep your bathrooms and ensuites in shape with that new home ‘just cleaned’ feel?
The maintenance team at Carlisle Homes share some important tips covering your home owner responsibilities as well as some ideas for cleaning products and techniques. Our interior styling team also have a few storage ideas to create cleverly functional spaces in your home.
Let’s start with the shower recesses. The sealants in your showers and other areas of the bathroom can actually become discoloured with the use of different cleaning products. You should avoid the use, where possible, of any abrasive substances but we do recommend frequent cleaning with mild household cleaners to reduce the build-up of soap and grime. Keep an eye on the ongoing condition of your tile grout and joint caulking, and replace missing grout with matching colour flexible grout from a tile or hardware store immediately. It is important to take care to not overload your shower base or drop any heavy items to minimise the chance of any cracks appearing which can compromise the waterproofing. While your bathrooms and ensuites are wet areas it isn’t recommended to have excess water or moisture present. Utilise a shower mat outside the shower during use and dry when not being used and remove all excess water from the surrounding floor and bath hob immediately.
Our fourth favourite bathroom has to be the stunning Sanctuary at the Somerfield Estate, Keysborough. Including open shelving is a great way to keep towels neat and tidy and an opportunity to inject some colour and texture into the space. These neat alcoves are also perfect to keep perfumes and jewellery boxes within reach without cluttering the bench space.
Ventilation in wet areas is very important to avoid the occurrence of any mould and mildew. Adequately ventilate bathrooms to minimise humidity and build-up of moisture by,
• Utilising ceiling exhaust fans at all times when using the bath or shower,
• Partially opening a window where possible to increase ventilation
We recommend you check out the Regent heat/fan/light combinations available through Spectra for a super efficient solution against damp.
Coming in at number three on our list is the master ensuite in the Vaucluse display home in the Somerfield Estate, Keysborough. The iconic Hampton’s styled décor combines a simple neutral palette with a classic warm beachy feel.
To keep your vanities in pristine condition, and minimise staining, be sure to clean any surface spillages immediately with mild cleaners and soft sponges or cloths, and minimise contact with perfumes and other toiletries.
Toilets blockages and overflowing cisterns can not only be a nuisance but can also create an embarrassing situation, especially if you have a house full of guests! Unfortunately children can be the main contributor to toilet blockages, but also note that wipes and other objects (mobile phones!) can create major issues! In the event of an overflowing cistern, you should immediately turn off the water at the stop tap and flush the toilet so that the cistern is emptied and contact a licensed plumber to inspect and repair the issue.
So hard to choose number one and the Montpellier at Selandra Rise Keysborough is such a close second, we do love the addition of the full length ‘shaving cabinet’. Storage in abundance in this lovely bathroom, no excuse for not having clear benchtops!
Key to keeping your ‘lived in’ ensuite looking as fresh as a display home is to keep it organised with a ‘place for everything and everything in its place’! Kit your vanity cupboards out with clever storage ideas from specialist suppliers like Howard’s Storage World and Ikea.
A hint from our Spectra team is to look at including drawers in your bathrooms selections to assist keeping your belongings in order.
This bathroom (sigh)…the Montclair at the Greenvale Estate, Greenvale our absolute number one favourite. The epitome of the romantic boudoir with crisp neutral tones and the luxury of a floor rug, the ultimate pamper! We are so in love with the inclusion of the vintage feel white wicker trunk to store the extra towels and bathrobes.
